Blogging Is Back in 2026 (and I'm back too!)
October 29, 2026

Okay so I keep seeing the same thing all over my feed lately - blogging is officially back in 2026. But wait, did it actually leave?! Other than a recent hiatus, I’ve blogged for over 10 years! (which btw, hey babe i’m back!)
Girls on TikTok and Instagram are declaring that blogging is back. Some of them are calling it a creative renaissance, which I love the sound of.
I started this blog over a decade ago (2013 to be exact and HERE & HERE are my first posts ever). Back when having your own cute little blog was just what you did. You shared your recipes, your outfits, what was going great or not so great in your life, and people actually came to your site to see what you were up to. There was no algorithm deciding who got to see your posts and who didn’t. It was yours. Your words, your photos, your pace.
Somewhere along the way the feeds took over and everybody started putting everything into apps that tech companies own. And now the younger girls are discovering what we always knew: there is something so good about having a place that is actually yours, AND something that Meta or TikTok can’t take away (and yes, they’ve been known to just delete and/or put posting restrictions on your profile.. They actually just deleted one of my instagram pages recently by random, and we are appealing to get it back. It’s crazy. Just remember you DO NOT own anything on a social media app).
But back to blogging! I love that the girlies are making it cute again; I am so ready for the millennial minimalist sad beige blahh everything to be a part of history! I’ve seen some posts online that are showing gen z girlie blogs that are very much in the style of Tumblr meets Myspace meets 90’s girl aesthetic. It’s a cute moment, and I’m here for it all. The little personal blogs, the long captions, the actually writing things down instead of just filming everything. It feels slower in the best way. Like, you can sit with a post, you can study all the photos in their detail, you can easily find the links to shop, you can come back to it next year and it is still there, exactly how you left it. Try finding a TikTok or IG reel you loved six months ago, and you’ll see how challenging it is! Try opening IG to find a saved Reel without getting distracting and getting shiny eye’d by every new reel, and suddenly you have no idea what you were looking for in the first place. With blogs, you don't have to worry about all that. It’s peaceful.
And the timing of all of this is kind of perfect for me, because if you have noticed, I have been gone for a minute. My last post here was back in January 2025, which feels wild to type. It was the longest I’ve ever gone without posting a blog. But tbh, not only was I insanely occupied (I started a new business, AND I had a baby boy!! More on that very soon, I promise), but I also was feeling creatively “stuck”. Not stuck in an “I have nothing to post” kind of way, but more in a “what’s the point” kind of way. When you share your life as a part of an ever changing social platform, it can be exhausting when the landscape is literally always changing. So I had to think of what it was I really wanted, what my goals were, what I realistically have the time for, and what I am comfortable trading my time for. I stepped away from blogging, and stepped away from doing a lot of social media until I was more clear on what is fulfilling and what is actually working now. I stepped away from this space while I lived it, but I never stopped thinking of this blog. It’s always been one of my fave places on the internet, and I even still go back to pull up my favorite recipes to cook. It was always here waiting, like a journal on a shelf.
So yes, blogging is back for 2026. The girls are right. It is cool to have a blog again, and tbh it was always cool to have a blog. I am just happy everybody else is catching on at the exact moment I am coming back to mine.
If you are starting one, or thinking about starting one, or dusting off one you abandoned years ago, do it. Write the silly post. Post the photos that make you happy. Don’t overthink it (like we’ve always done with Instagram). Make your little corner cute and then actually live in it.
Are you team blog again? Tell me in the comments, I want to read yours.
XO, Ashley!
