Avoid Burnout with Affirmations | For Work-a-holics and Over-Working:
I am enough. I do enough. I have enough, and there is nothing more I need to accomplish in order to feel “worthy,” or be considered “good.” I will continue pursuing professional goals and personal achievements, but my ambition will come from a place of passion and joy and excitement. I am letting passion and fulfillment light my path and guide my steps from here on out. I am no longer grinding just to distract myself, or numb myself. I am not overworking myself just to prove something to someone. It’s time for a paradigm shift. Being a workaholic is not a badge of honor- maybe I thought that in the past. But in fact, someone who just works all the time can really end up being quite dull and boring. If I work my life away, I miss out on life itself. I may lose my spark- my light may diminish. At the end of my life, when I look back, I won’t be saying “Ugh, I wish I would have just worked a little more;” …so I bear that in mind now. Every day I am becoming more mindful of my feelings. When I feel the urge to work too much, I ask myself, with compassion – is this really what I need right now? Is this really what the business needs right now? Is this what my family or just my life needs right now? What is it that I truly want in this moment? And I think about the big picture. The answer to that may change and that’s ok. I am learning to dig deeper and uncover what workaholism is trying to tell me- and I am learning to meet my needs in more wholesome, sustainable ways. A successful life, a happy life, is something that work by itself cannot grant me. To be truly successful, healthy, happy, and fulfilled means investing my time and energy in things not related to just work. Things like relationships and hobbies, personal growth and spirituality, travel and contribution, fitness and relaxation. I am allowing my creativity to flourish when I take time off and allow myself to absorb inspiration through other channels and outlets. I am optimizing my life force energy and my cognitive performance when I take proper care of myself mentally and physically. Value is added to my life by things other than work as well. And I am reminding myself every day that MY value is not determined by my productivity. My worth, as a human being and a soul, is not attached to my output. Moving forward, I am boosting my self-esteem and confidence by investing in myself; by becoming a happy, well-rounded, joyful individual. Work is something that I do and it’s something that love, but it doesn’t have to define every part of me. I am releasing any identity attachments that no longer serve me, and I am joyfully embracing new ways of being and doing and living.
