Going Green!

….and by green, I mean, eco-friendly!

It’s Earth Month and going green is something that I am quite passionate about! (I’m not perfect at it, but I give it my best shot)

Whether you’re new to the green scene or a green goddess, there is always something new and cutting-edge to learn about in the eco-beauty scene.

All things eco-conscious and cruelty-free are in major style right now, and each year more and more consumers are educated about their purchases. Actually, studies show that 89% of the nation is willing to purchase at least one kind of product that has a positive impact on the environment.

It’s not always easy being green, but luckily now there are more and more companies offering eco-friendly products. I bet if you take a closer look locally, you’ll see conscious companies popping up in your area.  In my city, Las Vegas, we have a full service salon called, Detox Salon, which only provides organic salon services.  Then there is meeee…with my cruelty-free and organic salon business. 🙂  I find more and more clients coming to me for healthier and more gentle salon procedures.  The shift is happening everywhere around us, and I think that is quite beautiful!

Eco-Conscious Salons & Spas

Green Salons are popping up all over the country!  Like I mentioned before, there are a few of us offering earth-friendly services in Las Vegas, but we’re starting to see many salons that are making steps to becoming more conscious.  They are beginning to incorporate green elements such as water or energy conservation into their salon’s daily practice.

New York City and San Francisco are two US cities that have the most earth-friendly salons! (Pictured above is Hale Organic Salon in NYC…it’s gorgeous, right?)

Conscious Skincare

Companies are recognizing that we want conscious skincare! As consumers have become more concerned about animal welfare issues and our impact on the environment, demand for earth-friendly, cruelty-free cosmetics and personal care products has skyrocketed!

I am thrilled that our desire for healthy skincare has been recognized!  There is not much I love more than new beauty products.

What’s particularly in style for spring skincare?  You guessed it. Radiant Skin!

Earth-friendly doesn’t mean results-unfriendly! (If anything it’s even better!)

Earth-friendly Retail Stores

We are starting to see more retail stores incorporate organic and earth-friendly products onto their shelves. Lush Cosmetics, a pioneer in their field, is a retail store that is based on eco-friendly products. Lush is a beautiful and colorful, bath shop. Many of their products use fresh, ethically sourced ingredients with as little packaging as possible. (most are vegan too!)

I hope to see more earth-friendly stores showing up in shopping centers and malls soon!

5-Free Polish Companies

More and more nail polish companies are going 5-free, yay!  What does 5-Free mean? Regular polishes are made with Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor.  The, new and improved, healthy nail polishes are made without these carcinogens!

With health-conscious priniples, comes earth-friendly practices.
