Is it just me or is getting your kid into the bathtub, well, A SITUATION.
Lily is not one to happily get into the bathtub, so I’ve had to make bath time very exciting so that life keeps going smoothly.
We created the DISCO BATH.
It works.
It started as a popsicle bath (due to melting, popsicles are excellent for bath time). Then we graduated to a full-on disco, a kid-approved rave, if you will. It’s safe to say that now anytime bath time is approaching, and it’s not met with delight, we can turn it into a good time in no time.
Here’s the details for Disco Bath:
Bubbles
Bubbles are a must for a fun bath time. In our home, CLEAN, HEALTHY, bubbles are also part of that equation. There are some things that I am 100% against 100% of the time, and bubble bath products for kids with fake fragrances and unnecessary ingredients are one of them. I’ve never understood how submerging your backside in a pool of fragranced chemicals is a good idea; it never worked out well for me as a kid, and so I won’t use bubble bath for my kiddo unless it’s SAFE & CLEAN.
I use Think Bubble Bath because it checks all the boxes of what I look for in a bubble bath product for kids. It doesn’t irritate Lily’s skin, it’s fragrance-free, EWG-certified, and it’s free of parabens, phthalates, 1,4 dioxane, sodium lauryl sulfate and harmful chemicals.
Popsicle
For a neat freak mom, a popsicle treat in the bath is a win-win! Lily loves the all-fruit pops or the chocolate covered frozen banana popsicles – they both have very few ingredients and are free of refined sugars too. Sugar before sleep is a big no!
Water Toys
Lily’s favorite bath toys are the nostalgic Wee Water Babies. They can be challenging to find, but they are making a comeback. (A lot of times websites sell them for $30+, but really they should be under $10. If you see them in the store or online for less than 10 bucks, def grab one!) I used to play with Water Babies when I was little, and now they make cute mini ones called “Wee” babies, and they’re just adorable.
2 in 1 Wash
Clean, safe, and EASY products are part of our disco. Think’s Shampoo & Body Wash for kids is epic. It has a very light natural papaya scent from papaya extract and the product performs very well! Just like the bubble bath, it is EWG verified, safe, clean, and free of harmful ingredients.
Party Lights
I can’t take credit for the party lights. This was 100% Alex’s idea. Alex does event lighting and AV, so he had these mini portable lights on hand; one evening he turned them on in Lily’s bathroom and she WAS OBSESSED. It was so much fun we turned it into regular thing!
Kids Playlist
Last but not least, I play Lily’s favorite tunes when it’s bath time. What would a disco bath be without party music? The music is typically either My Little Pony or My Little Mermaid. We also have a Lily’s Faves Playlist that is a go-to. I highly recommend making your own playlist on Spotify for you & your fam. It makes it easy!
